Our Story
Art Rebel (noun): An art studio, theater, class, party place, supper club and business retreat all rolled up into one. Established in January 2009, a “multi-functional clubhouse” with a completely unique, imaginative twist!
Ponti Lambros graduated from UCLA with a degree in history. After traveling to London where he became an investment banker, he realized, " I did the 9 to 5 thing. It wasn't for me. I tried to fit the mold society tries to put us in. I tried for eight years." When he moved back to Los Angeles he started to paint for fun to get his wife Sabine, an artist to start painting again. He realized that he loved painting and within four years he produced over 100 paintings. His collectors include Benicio Del Toro, Sean Penn, and Nick Cassavetes just to name a few. Recently, a vast collection of Lambros's work will be seen on the new Lee Daniels series "Empire".
"Art Rebel came as an idea when I started to paint in my garage. We'd have these parties where we would paint, and I thought it would be a good idea to have a place like that where people could reconnect with their creative side," said Lambros. With that, Lambros soon opened Art Rebel with his wife. Lambros opened the studio across from where James Dean's last photograph was taken. Art Rebel comes from Rebel Without a Cause to pay tribute to James Dean. Art Rebel has become an atmosphere of creativity providing classes, camps and events for both experienced and inexperienced artists, and a space for aspiring Picassos. Art Rebel's motto remains as Art for Everyone, to inspire and unleash the creative genius inside us all.
